How are prayer times calculated?

Prayer times are calculated from the sun's angle to the horizon at your location. For this reason, times can differ by a few minutes in every city, and even between districts of the same province. The times on this page are calculated from the coordinates of the city and district you select, and are updated automatically every day.

The five daily prayers and their times

  • Imsak: The start of the morning prayer; the moment dawn begins to break, and the fast starts at this time.
  • Sun: The moment the sun rises; the time for the morning prayer ends at this hour.
  • Noon: The time when the sun passes its zenith and shadows begin to lengthen.
  • Another: The afternoon time when the shadows of objects have clearly lengthened.
  • Evening: The moment the sun sets; the fast is broken at this time.
  • Isha: The time when the evening twilight fades and night begins.

Yes, imsak is also the time of the morning prayer and the morning call to prayer; the morning prayer can be performed until sunrise.

How often are the times updated?

The calendar is refreshed automatically every day; when you open the page you see the current prayer times for the day and the table for the next 30 days.
